Rationale by Mr. Pritchard for his bookplate: "I choose the medieval admiral's seal design because I was wanting something different from the usual coat-of-arms front and center. The flags on the ship also allowed for my heraldic badge to be illustrated. The cockle shells in the corners are from my mantling and the collars on my greyhound supporters. By the way, Gordon Macpherson designed my heraldic badge that was registered with the Bureau of Heraldry, South Africa."
